What is Relational Somatic Therapy?

There is an inner noticing that arises when sitting with self. Listen to the whispers of wisdom that bubble forth. Sometimes the body talks in whispers. Sometimes is yells out. Do you hear the whispers? Are you waiting for the yells? Is it safe enough to be open?
Relational Somatic Therapy provides a safe counter from which to explore the way the body is holding personal experiences. This modality comes out of trauma informed and body-centred counselling and is informed by attachment theory and polyvagal theory. It is based in the reality of neuroplasticity, which shows that the brain is constantly changing and responding to experiences. It emphasizes the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance where the client can feel a secure base from which to explore the world. It offers hope for changing the body's responses to life's challenges.
